No visit to the Big Island is complete without taking in the expansive views of the Kona coastline and some of the world's biggest geological wonders: Hawaiian volcanoes. Expect a curated full-day experience that includes picnic lunch at a Kona coffee farm, black sand beaches, an in-depth visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and a starry 3-course dinner at the foot of Kilauea. On this all-inclusive tour, we've planned an afternoon of Big Island highlights as well as unique dining experiences that culminate with a 3-course dinner at the foot of the Kilauea volcano. Everything from transportation, admissions, and dining is planned on your behalf so you can focus on enjoying the sights. Expect expert storytelling and island history from our passionate guides. Highlights include stops at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach and a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where you explore lava tubes, steam vents, and even ancient lava trails.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Premium Kona Coffee Farm - After your hotel pickup, start the afternoon off with lunch deep in Kona coffee country. Expect a deli-style picnic lunch along with coffee tastings at one of our favorite coffee roasters as you breathe in the mountain air and soak in the expansive Kona coastline.
- Punalu'u Bake Shop - Next stop: the southernmost bakery in the U.S.! Delight in fresh Hawaiian sweetbreads and Portuguese-inspired malasadas. This is a beloved spot by locals and travelers alike on the south side of the Big Island. Time permitting, grab extra baked goods for our next stop to a black sand beach (own expense).
- Punalu'u Black Sand Beach - This stunning beach is home to many nesting Hawaiian sea turtles, also known as honu. Your guide shows you the best places to see the sea turtles as they bask in the sun on the beach, though we cannot guarantee sightings. Along with enjoying the wildlife and scenery, you also get to learn more about how many Polynesian explorers first came ashore on the island.
- Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - For many visitors, seeing a Big Island volcano is a real highlight of their trip. On this tour, expect a visit that lasts over an hour in the crown jewel of the Big Island - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - which contains two of the world's most active volcanoes: Kilauea and Mauna Loa. From sea level to the peak, Mauna Loa stretches 13,667 feet above sea level, making it the world's largest volcano. The park is a designated International Biosphere Reserve, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The visitors' center hosts interesting and interactive displays, something to look at in between visits to see and feel the heat of steam vents and view Kilauea and Kilauea Iki craters. During the visit, you can also take a short hike through the Thurston Lava Tube.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park officials have been known to restrict and/or close access to certain parts of the park without prior notice to visitors or tour providers. Kailani Tours will not refund a tour booking caused by park restrictions. - 3-Course Dinner in Volcano Town - Dine at a restaurant located in the town of Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. Situated on the slopes of the Kilauea volcano, it's near the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Expect a 3-course dinner menu made with locally-sourced ingredients.
