Ka'anapali: Maui's Premier Resort Destination

Three miles of golden beach and endless activities

Ka'anapali is Maui's most famous resort area, with world-class beaches, dining, shopping, and the iconic Black Rock cliff diving ceremony every evening.

The Beach That Started It All

Ka'anapali Beach stretches three glorious miles along West Maui's coast and is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world. The wide crescent of golden sand is backed by major resorts including the Sheraton, Hyatt Regency, Westin, and the Marriott. A paved beachfront walking path connects them all, making it easy to explore on foot.

The beach faces west, creating ideal conditions for some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever witness. Every evening, crowds gather near Black Rock (Pu'u Keka'a) for the traditional cliff diving ceremony, where a diver lights torches along the rock face and leaps into the ocean below at sunset.

Beyond the Beach

Whaler's Village is an open-air shopping and dining complex right on the beachfront. Beyond retail, it hosts a fascinating whaling museum with artifacts from Maui's whaling era. For golf enthusiasts, the Ka'anapali Golf Courses offer two championship courses with stunning ocean and mountain views.

Ka'anapali is also a prime launching point for activities across West Maui. Zipline tours above the resort area, stand-up paddleboarding in the calm morning waters, parasailing with views stretching to the neighbor islands, and some of Maui's best snorkeling at Black Rock are all within steps of your hotel.

Dining and Nightlife

Ka'anapali offers everything from casual beachside grills to upscale restaurants. Hula Grill on the beach serves excellent fresh fish in a toes-in-the-sand setting. Japengo at the Hyatt delivers sophisticated pan-Asian cuisine with one of the best cocktail programs on the island. For a more relaxed evening, Leilani's on the beach at Whaler's Village pairs Hawaiian-inspired dishes with live music.
